Job Responsibilities:
A school nurse plays a key role in keeping students healthy, safe, and ready to learn. Their
responsibilities go beyond basic first aid—they’re often the primary healthcare provider within a
school setting.
 Provide first aid and emergency care for injuries and sudden illnesses
 Manage chronic conditions like asthma, diabetes, allergies, and seizures
 Administer medications according to the doctor’s orders and school policy
 Monitor student health and follow up on ongoing issues
 Maintain accurate student health records
 Partner with ECLC Director to ensure preschool health files and documentation meet
licensing requirements
 Track immunizations and ensure compliance with state requirements
 Document visits, treatments, and incidents
 Conduct vision and hearing screenings required by the state and preschool licensing
 Identify potential health concerns and notify parents/guardians
 Promote healthy habits and disease prevention
 Support programs related to mental health, bullying, or substance abuse
 Work with teachers, administrators, and counselors to support student well-being
 Coordinate with doctors or public health agencies when needed
 Develop and implement emergency action plans (EAPs) and individualized health plans
(IHPs)
 Collaboration with CHCA’s Student Support Department
 Train staff in hands-only CPR, first aid, and use of AEDs (Project Adam)
 Respond to school-wide health emergencies
 Recognize signs of anxiety, depression, or abuse
 Monitor and manage communicable diseases
 Provide training, supervision, and evaluation of school-based personnel who carry out
procedures and treatments needed for students on or off campus
 Participate in the planning and implementation of CHCA health procedures, standing
orders, policies, goals, and objectives, including emergency procedures, crisis
management, and disaster planning
 Facilitate health education for students and staff through direct health counseling,
selective educational presentations, and as a health resource person.
 Administer First Aid/CPR/AED as needed for illness, injury, or life-threatening
emergencies
 Cross-train to all CHCA campuses in case of a specific nursing need
 Uphold the ethical codes and standards of both nursing and education professions.
 
Other Job Functions:

and certifications
 Promote CHCA's interest in increasing student achievement by always working with the

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Minimum Qualifications:
 Valid Ohio license or Compact State license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN).
 Bachelor's degree in nursing or a related field.
 Valid adult and child First Aid/CPR/AED certificate issued by the American Heart
Association or the American Red Cross.
 One (1) year of experience in school nursing or other related pediatric nursing field.
 A professing Christian, comfortable working in a multi-denominational Christian
environment.

Camp Lilac is looking for nursing staff for their summer camp. 
There are two sessions, but they can be flexible if a nurse is only  available for one week or a few days. ​Camp Lilac is an overnight summer camp in Ohio for transgender and gender diverse youth. Trans youth often face stressful, unwelcoming, and even hostile environments in their day to day lives, and depression, anxiety, and suicide are much higher  among them. Since 2017, we’ve been creating a safe, welcoming, and confidential space in which gender diversity is the norm. Our program is designed so that campers emerge with an increased sense of confidence in their identities and a strong community of peers and supporters. The goal of the Bureau of Infectious Diseases (BID) is to prevent and control the spread of infectious diseases (e.g., foodborne outbreaks, general infectious diseases, healthcare-associated infections, influenza, meningitis, tuberculosis, vaccine-preventable diseases, waterborne outbreaks, zoonotic diseases and vector-borne diseases).

The bureau works closely with local health departments (LHDs), healthcare providers and laboratories to ensure that infectious disease reports are reviewed and investigated timely; the program provides technical expertise and coordination to LHDs, healthcare providers, laboratories and where appropriate, the general public.

Job Description

What You'll Do:

The Bureau of Infectious Diseases is seeking an Immunization Nurse Consultant to serve as the statewide expert on immunizations & vaccine-preventable diseases. This position will monitor & evaluate implementation of Get Vaccinated subgrants including review of local grant applications. Additional job duties may include:

  • Write & assure accomplishment of CDC grant objectives related to immunization education interventions.
  • Participate in immunization program phone duty responding to calls from providers & general public on immunizations, vaccine-preventable diseases, Vaccine for Children (VFC) issues & storage & handling guidelines.
  • Ensure adherence to all applicable state & federal rules, regulations, laws, agency policies, procedures & protocols for immunization & vaccine preventable disease control educational program.
  • Collaborate with other state &/or local agencies, educational institutions & advocacy organizations to develop & present coordinated educational activities, programs for health professionals & the general public.
  • Research & identify ODH resources (e.g., ODH publications, employees with expertise on vaccine- preventable disease prevention & control) available to assist agencies in dealing with vaccine- preventable diseases.

Training and development required to remain in the classification after employment: Biennial renewal of license to practice as registered nurse.

Unusual working conditions: Travels overnight; exposed to unpredictable patient behavior.

Normal working hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. This is an hourly position, with a pay range of 12 on the Ohio Health Care SEIU/1199 Pay Range Schedule.

Qualifications

Current & valid license to practice professional nursing as Registered Nurse (i.e., R.N.) in Ohio as issued by Board of Nursing pursuant to Section 4723.03 of Revised Code

 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in nursing; must be able to provide own transportation.
